I am fascinated by the power of clothing to tell stories and shape characters. My passion lies in designing and constructing costumes that not only reflect a character's personality but also enhance the narrative. Every choice of fabric, colour, and silhouette helps convey a character's journey, and I love incorporating small, hidden details into my designs.

I am particularly drawn to smaller theatre projects, where I can contribute to a shared experience that brings people together. Having had some experience in this, I have learned that working with limited resources in these settings pushes my creativity and helps me find innovative solutions. My love for rummaging through charity shops lends itself to finding cost effective and sustainable materials which I can then tailor and break down according to the design.

My studies at Lincoln College of Art and Design and The University of Huddersfield have developed my technical skills in pattern drafting, cutting on the stand, and using both domestic and industrial machines. One of my favourite modules of first year involved experimenting with a wide range of textiles techniques such as print, weave, knit, surface decoration and embroidery. In my second year, I have thoroughly enjoyed delving into a script that was slightly outside of my comfort zone. Analysing the script and creating inspiration boards informed my design process resulting in a successful lineup of hand drawn characters. I am really looking forward to utilizing these skills in a variety of projects as my career progresses.

Ultimately, my aim is to create costumes which bridge the gap between the audience and the performance, especially in community theatre, where stories are shared, voices are heard, and connections are strengthened.
